Betsy was a Columbia native and Stephens College graduate with a B.F.A. in Advertising Design and minor in Business Administration. Farris began her career in the arts and entertainment industry with Discwasher, Division at International Jensen Inc.

Farris became the Art Director/Production Manager at Discwasher, before leaving to become a Design Director at KPLR-TV, KRBK-TV, Koplar Communications Inc. and Koplar Enterprises in St. Louis.

Farris was promoted to Account Executive at KPLR-TV. Later, she moved to KDNL-TV the FOX Affiliate, as a Senior AE, and then relocated back to Columbia to join KRCG-TV. While she was there, Farris lead the Local Sales team, National Sales efforts and was promoted to VP/GM.

Farris returned to her roots when she became President of Thumper Entertainment, who produces the Roots N Blues Festival every year. Farris also competed in the Dancing with Missouri Stars competition in 2012 and in doing so helped to raise money that went to benefit the Missouri Contemporary Ballet professional dance company.

Outside of work, Farris enjoyed live music, traveling to see music festivals, running and competing in triathlons, and spending time with her kids.

Betsy passed away in October of 2016. She was greatly loved and is missed by many.
