Julie believes all children deserve the chance to be interested in music. She is passionate about the way in which Blues in the Schools supplies an alternative demonstration of music to what they have classically known. She enjoys how it gets kids musically involved from a young age, which they may not have had the opportunity to at home.
Julie is a Columbia native and Missouri State University graduate with a degree in Advertising and Promotions and a minor in design. After graduation, she spent a few years in Springfield, Missouri before she moved back home to Columbia. She then became involved with the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival where she spent her first year as the volunteer coordinator. She now serves as the Festival Director.
Outside of work, Julie is an avid yoga enthusiast who drinks mass amounts of coffee. She spends a lot of time gardening and baking, usually following the coffee consumption. She is also very passionate about her dogs.
Julie has been on the board since the creation of The Roots N Blues Foundation in January 2013, and served as Secretary from January 2013 to June 2016.
